In addition to making a space to support the work of individual writers and artists, we are thrilled to offer residencies to writers with families.
We recognize the rarity of residential opportunities for writers and artists who cannot or prefer not to leave their families behind. Through our family residency program, Dickinson House supports writers and artists with children. Writers and artists are welcome to be in residence with a spouse or partner, a parent, or another adult, along with up to three children.
Dickinson House family residencies can accommodate two adults (sharing a room with a double bed) and up to three children, or two adults (in separate rooms) and up to two children. A crib is available. We do not offer childcare (one adult must be responsible for any attendant children at all times), but we are happy to provide a list of outings, entertainment, and cultural sites that might appeal. We also have a limited number of children’s books and games, and children are welcome to play on our grounds, under resident adults’ appropriate supervision.
We are now fully booked for family residencies in 2016.
Families in residence occupy the entire upper floor of Dickinson House; no others are in residence during family residencies. If only two bedrooms are necessary for accommodation, the writer(s) is (are) welcome to use the third bedroom as a studio.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer fellowships to families in residence, but we offer a substantially reduced rate for full board.
Rates for family residencies (full board):
First adult €105 per day, second adult €45 per day. Each child €20 per day.
First adult €90 per day, second adult €45 per day. Each child €20 per day.
